FlaVit Seaweed Seasoning
Product Safety & Testing

Seaweed is very good at absorbing contaminants such as heavy metals and therefore water quality and the safety of the product is paramount. In very recent years the Food Standards Agency has had to withdraw contaminated seaweed on more than one occasion which should not have entered the human food chain.

We source our product from the Grade A pristine waters of the Outer Hebrides and all seaweed passes through a series of foreign particle and metal detection systems. Every batch of our seaweed is tested for key contaminants, heavy metals and microbial pathogens as well as other key aspects of nutrition by batch and periodic analysis.

The seaweed is processed only in registered food premises to food hygiene standards, and standard operating procedures are in place for all aspects of production and quality.

There has been no product recall since production started over 14 years ago.

U.S. FDA Approval Number: 21 CFR 184.1120
